Wellness and Socials Môr A Sawna

Because community matters

Wellness at Môr A Sawna

Môr A Sawna is a wood‑fired mobile sauna permanently situated at Jackson’s Bay in Barry, South Wales. Rooted in wellness and mental health, our sauna offers a restorative space where heat, nature, and intentional ritual come together. Overlooking the curve of the beach, you’re invited to move between sea and sauna, warmth and wildness, stillness and renewal.

Inside, the soft glow of the fire, the scent of wood, and the glass‑dome view create a tranquil retreat where your body can unwind and your mind can settle.

Sauna Rituals: A Deeper Way to Restore

At Môr A Sawna, sauna bathing is more than heat — it’s a guided ritual of release, grounding, and reconnection.

All rituals are held by Kathryn, your Sauna Master, who blends traditional sauna practices with therapeutic skill and intuitive care.

Our sauna rituals may include:

- Breathwork to settle the nervous system

Gentle, accessible practices to help you arrive fully in your body.

- Aromatherapy infusions (löyly)

Essential oils or natural botanicals used within the sauna, but never added to the stones, to deepen relaxation and open the senses.

- Cold‑water immersion guidance

Safe, supportive transitions between sea or cold shower and sauna to invigorate circulation and build resilience.

- Mindful moments of silence

Space to listen inwardly, reset, and reconnect with yourself.

- Seasonal or intention‑based rituals

New moon, full moon, sunrise, or grounding practices shaped by the natural cycles around us.

These rituals are crafted to help you slow down, soften, and experience the sauna as a place of healing rather than simply heat.

Health Benefits

Making the most of your time

01

Boost Immunity

As the body is exposed to the heat of a sauna and steam, it produces white blood cells more rapidly, which in turn helps to fight illnesses and helps to kill viruses. In addition, saunas can relieve the uncomfortable symptoms of sinus congestion from colds or allergies.

03

Improves Sleep Quality

Saunas are a simple and effective mechanism to enhance the quality of sleep. It is recommended for people suffering from insomnia. It is estimated that a brief spell of 15-20 minutes spent in a sauna room is almost equal to 1-2 hours of a brisk walk or workout. Using a sauna affects the autonomic nervous system to put you in the parasympathetic (rest and digest) state, which helps you unwind and get a great night’s rest.

02

Alleviates muscle pain and inflammation

Saunas relax muscles and soothe aches/pains in both muscles and joints. As the body temperature rises in the heat of the sauna, blood vessels dilate allowing for increased blood circulation in the body which causes the stiff muscles to relax. The joints react in a similar way to muscles. The joints in your body may become inflamed from over stimulation or over use. The relaxing and penetrating heat from the sauna will cause the joints to relax. After a few short minutes the inflammation will be reduced, easing pain and stiffness.

04

Fat loss and detoxification

Sweating helps flush the toxins and impurities from your body. But, for most people, our everyday activities don’t generate enough sweat to seriously purge out these unhealthy substances. Sweating also helps flush out heavy metals such as lead, zinc, copper, nickel and mercury that can be absorbed through foods or environmental factors. Detoxification clears out the lymphatic system and helps your body burn fat more effectively, gives you more energy for exercise and can speed up weight loss.

                 Benefits of Vitamin Sea

There are many benefits to cold water swimming, here are just a few:

It boosts your immune system - cold water helps to boost the white blood cell count because the body is forced to react to changing conditions.

It gives a natural high -  cold water swimming activates endorphins.  This is a chemical is a feel good chemical that is produced to make us feel good during exercise and other activities.

It burns calories - The heart has to pump faster in cold water and the body must work harder to keep everything warm while dipping.

It reduces stress - cold water swimming place stress on the body physically and mentally.  Many studies have identified the link between cold water and stress reduction, particularly on the vagus nerve.
